ByDesign presents a unique opportunity for BC Adventist educators to enrich science instruction while still meeting BC Ministry of Education curriculum requirements. While the BC provincial curriculum offers strong coverage of matter and physics, it falls short in key areas such as biology and human anatomy. ByDesign not only fills these gaps but also integrates faith-based perspectives, making science more meaningful for Seventh-day Adventist students.
Even a partial adoption – such as acquiring teacher’s guides or student books, could enhance lesson planning, provide engaging visuals, and support interactive learning. It’s coverage of evolution and creation in Grades 7 and 8 is particularly valuable for fostering critical thinking within a faith-based framework. While the absence of First Peoples content requires local adaptation, this challenge is not unique to ByDesign and can be addressed through intentional lesson planning.
